During World War I, crewmembers onboard the Olympic, Titanic's sister ship, displayed signs of discomfort and worry when over the position where the disaster occurred only years before. Ships have also reported getting distress calls from a ship identifying itself as "Titanic" in the many years between today and 1912. People have also heard the ship's orchestra echo across the water when near the wreck, with one tune sounding very similar to "Nearer My God To Thee". Screams have also been heard in the area along with apparitions of drowning passengers. As for the ship itself? During World War II, a German U-Boat patrolling off the coast of Newfoundland spotted what appeared to be an allied troopship. The liner had four funnels and was steaming towards either Canada or the United States. Immediately, the U-Boat opened fire, but none of the munitions were able to hit the mystery ship. It is likely the U-Boat crew thought the ship was the Aquitania, which was at the time the world's last four funneled liner. As it turns out, Aquitania was serving between Britain and Australia, not to North America. The crew of the U-Boat apparently attacked the ghost of Titanic, as the U-Boat's commander stated the ship mysteriously disappeared not long after the attack. In 1990, an aircraft flying over the wreck area spotted the Titanic floating with debris scattered all over her decks with many people clinging to the ruined vessel in agony. The lights were all turned off, the lifeboat davits were empty and the people on board were zombie-like in appearance. After trying to contact the ship, the aircraft had no luck and gave up on trying to help it. If that isn't enough, dock workers in New York saw the ghost of Titanic sailing towards the docks with a large gash in her side. That sighting was later blamed on alcoholism. Lastly, the captain of a small vessel gave a tour of his ship to an elderly soft spoken British man, near the site. He later identified the man as Captain Smith.
